My Writing

Rainy Day

Here we go! Another poem! Because the rainy Fall days are returning to Washington state, I figured I’d share one of my earlier poems inspired by wet days and mud puddles. Enjoy!

Rainy Day

plink,

         plunk

droplets of drizzle dazzle the day

stomp,

squeak

red rainboots

slip and slide

through the dusty doorway

leak,

         leap

kitty cat catches

a wayward wet drop

hiss,

hop

fuzzy feline frets

and he won’t stop

laugh,

splat

into a bed of leaks

mud,

thud

I clean off my filthy feet

calm,

sigh

day disappears,

leaving quiet, cool night.

Things are more interesting when less bright.
